Art Project: Fire of Intelligence
SBS D포럼 2023의 공식 개막 아트 프로젝트로 〈지능의 불꽃〉 오프닝 퍼포먼스가 진행되었다. 이 작업은 해당 연도의 포럼 주제와 연결되며, 인공지능 기술이 인간의 삶과 사회 시스템 속에서 어떤 방식으로 작동하고 있는지를 무대 위의 협업 구조를 통해 드러낸다.
퍼포먼스는 배달 로봇 뉴비(Newbie)와 안무가 이재윤의 협업을 중심으로 구성되었다. 로봇은 단순한 장치나 소품이 아니라, 인간과 함께 움직이며 무대 위의 관계를 형성하는 동등한 존재로 기능한다. 인간의 신체 움직임과 로봇의 동작이 하나의 공간 안에서 교차하며, 기술이 이미 일상과 노동, 이동의 영역 깊숙이 결합되어 있음을 보여준다.
이 작업에는 인공지능 기반 영상과 음악이 함께 결합되어 퍼포먼스의 시간성과 리듬을 확장한다. 각각의 요소는 독립적으로 존재하기보다 하나의 시스템 안에서 상호 반응하며, 인간·기계·미디어가 동시에 작동하는 환경을 형성한다.
〈지능의 불꽃〉은 기술을 설명하거나 과시하는 데 머무르지 않고, 포럼이라는 공적 담론의 장에서 인간과 기술이 함께 만들어가는 현재의 조건을 감각적으로 제시하는 오프닝 퍼포먼스로 작동한다.
The Spark of Intelligence was presented as the official opening performance of SBS D·Forum 2023. Conceived in direct dialogue with the forum’s annual theme, the performance examines how artificial intelligence is already embedded in contemporary social systems and everyday life.
The work centers on a collaboration between the delivery robot Newbie and choreographer Lee Jaeyun. The robot does not function as a symbolic prop or technical demonstration, but as an active presence on stage, forming a shared choreography with the human performer. Through their coordinated movements, the performance reveals how technological agents increasingly participate in spaces once defined exclusively by human action.
AI-generated media and sound further expand the temporal and spatial structure of the performance. Rather than operating as separate elements, movement, media, and sound are interwoven into a single system, reflecting a condition in which humans, machines, and digital processes coexist and continuously interact.
Presented within the public forum context, The Spark of Intelligence does not aim to explain technology, but to situate it as a lived condition—one that unfolds through collaboration, movement, and shared presence.
