Startup Alliance Office & Community Space
스타트업얼라이언스는 2014년 출범한 한국 스타트업 생태계 활성화를 위한 민간 비영리기관으로, 2023년 강남구 봉은사로 인근에 스타트업 생태계 커뮤니티 공간 엔스페이스를 새롭게 개소했다. 이 프로젝트에서 오피스와 엔스페이스, 두 개 층으로 구성된 공간의 설계 및 전반적인 공간 기획을 담당했다.
이 공간 기획은 스타트업 생태계가 지닌 선도적 이미지와 개방성, 그리고 일과 교류가 공존하는 자유와 여유의 감각을 공간에 입히는 것을 목표로 한다. 이를 위해 서로 다른 성격의 두 공간을 ‘선(line)’이라는 공통된 디자인 언어로 연결하며, 기능의 차이를 유지한 채 하나의 흐름 안에서 인식되도록 구성했다.
오피스 공간은 ‘집’을 모티브로 설계되어, 장시간 머무르며 일하고 대화할 수 있는 편안하고 일상적인 분위기를 형성한다. 벽이나 면의 사용을 최소화하고, 가구와 구조 요소를 선 중심으로 구성함으로써 공간 사이의 경계를 느슨하게 만들고, 자연스러운 소통과 체류를 유도한다.
엔스페이스는 컨퍼런스, 세미나, 문화 행사 등 다양한 프로그램을 수용할 수 있도록 기능적으로 설계된 공간이다. 강연과 발표회뿐 아니라 전시, 영화 상영, DJ 퍼포먼스 등 여러 형식의 이벤트가 가능하도록 구성되었으며, 전통적인 강연장의 형식을 벗어나 보다 유연하고 열린 사용을 전제로 한다. 이 공간 역시 면보다는 선의 구조가 먼저 인식되도록 설계되어, 참여와 교류가 발생할 수 있는 잠재성을 강조한다.
두 공간에 공통적으로 적용된 선 중심의 디자인은 동선과 가구, 시각적 리듬을 하나로 묶으며, 오피스와 엔스페이스가 분리된 기능을 가지면서도 하나의 연속된 환경으로 경험되도록 한다. 이를 통해 일과 교류, 휴식과 이벤트가 단절되지 않고 자연스럽게 이어지는 공간적 흐름을 형성한다.
Startup Alliance is a private non-profit organization established in 2014 to support and activate the Korean startup ecosystem. In 2023, it opened &Space, a new community hub for the startup ecosystem, located near Eonju Station in Gangnam, Seoul.
This project was commissioned to design and conceptually plan the two-story space, comprising the office and &Space.
The spatial concept aims to translate the forward-looking image of the startup ecosystem, along with a sense of openness, freedom, and ease, into a coherent spatial experience. While maintaining distinct functions, the two spaces are connected through a shared design language centered on line, allowing them to be perceived as part of a continuous flow.
The office space is designed with the motif of a “home,” creating a comfortable and familiar atmosphere that supports extended work, conversation, and daily interaction. Solid surfaces are minimized, and furniture and structural elements are articulated through linear forms, softening boundaries and encouraging openness and communication.
&Space is functionally designed to accommodate a wide range of programs, including conferences, seminars, and cultural events. Beyond lectures and presentations, the space supports exhibitions, film screenings, and DJ performances, moving away from the conventional format of an auditorium toward a more flexible and open platform. Here as well, linear structures take visual precedence over solid planes, emphasizing adaptability and the potential for exchange.
The line-based design applied throughout both spaces connects circulation, furniture, and visual rhythm into a unified spatial language. As a result, the office and &Space operate as distinct environments while being experienced as part of a continuous spatial narrative—one in which work and exchange, rest and events coexist seamlessly.
